This Process ManagementLead sits within the Oncology R&D Program Management Office (PMO) and is responsible to both consult and provide direction and direct delivery of value to high priority strategic initiatives. We also work to embed growth mindset, capabilities, methods and tools to create the conditions for ongoing continuous improvement.Reporting to the Oncology R&D Chief Operating OfficeHead of PMO, this role will be accountable to both provide process management support directly to R&D strategic initiatives whilst also leading the deployment and of key process management capability, standard or tool across the R&D network over time.

What you’ll do:

Lead the development and establishment of aR&D Process Management Capability.

Enable the aspirations of transformational program activities by capturing and transforming R&D ways of working, measuring those ways of working to drive continuous improvement and by eliciting and realising the value of those transformational programs to drive an effective portfolio of work.

Accountabilities:

Process Management Capability Build and Framework, with initial focus on key Oncology R&D/R&D transformation programs

Define and implement a robust Process Management Framework that enables transformation programs to effectively captureagreed ways of working, including the ability to:

  • Ensure process mapping work is undertaken consistently and executed transparently.

  • Provide guidance on scoping, planned commitment, tracking and change control to drive visibility and execution.

  • Ensure processes are owned by business representatives, and responsibility for future changes and governance pertaining to those processes is agreed at program closure.

  • Oversee and guide the implementation of new processes / changes to existing process in the hierarchy.

  • Ensure processes adhere to the Enterprise Mapping Standard.

  • Review and approve the processes in line with the Enterprise Mapping Standards.

  • Ensure that processes clearly elicit their dependencies on other processes within initiatives and to other initiatives.

  • Present and Inform the R&D Process Governance Board, Business Leaders and R&D portfolios of any dependent impacts. Act as key point of contact for cross-R&D transformational program interdependencies in regard to process management – flag risks and drive discussions to inform decision-making.

  • Develop and implement a process maturity model to identify criticality and to manage improvement over time.

Delivery of Process Management Activities to Drive Key Transformational Programs + Oncology R&D Strategic Priorities 

Accountable for identifying R&D transformation (program specific and cross-program – all which affects functions) process area impacts to increase the visibility of the change impact.

Accountable for interacting with and representingR&D transformation process management onthe cross-R&D transformation PMO (aligned to the Oncology R&D PMO) to ensureprocess implementation or augmentation is managed consistently.

KPI Framework for In Scope Programs (in partnership with R&D Transformation Productivity Lead)

With R&D Transformation Productivity Lead, define and implement a robust KPI framework that identifies and measures key performance indicators and drives continuous improvement and action, including the ability to:

  • Ensure critical processes are measurable and that the intended benefits of the process can be realised.

  • Ensure Transparency of performance and Single Source of Truth via Dashboards (leveraging existing platforms or creating new ones as needed)

Benefits Management FrameworkForIn Scope Programs (in partnership with R&D Transformation Productivity Lead)

With R&D Transformation Productivity Lead, define and implement a robust Benefits framework (with focus on benefits derived via process updates and refinements)that identifies, defines and realises the value of transformational programs, including the ability to:

  • Ensure program benefits are defined consistently.

  • Ensure program benefits reflect program delivery and adoption plans.

  • Ensure program benefits remain up to date throughout the lifecycle of a program.

  • Ensure visibility of program benefits across the portfolio.

  • Ensure the benefits framework enables programs to pass ownership of defined benefits collaboratively to business users.Ensure program benefits can be tracked (during the program and in Business-as-Usual activities) 

Basic Qualifications

  • BS/BA Degree in business or scientific field

  • Minimum of 8 years experience in this field 

  • Expertise in process management capability build, with a proven track record of delivering successful change projects

  • Experience building process management strategy, framework and trainings

  • Demonstrate strong communication and relationship building skills with the ability to influence others to achieve objectives

  • Strong networking/consulting skills with good internal/external links 

  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical information into business language and in alignment with AZ business

  • Proven track record in delivering high risk programme/projects and decision making

  • Ability to convince and manage negotiations across a complex group

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal qualifications in process management, project management, and/orchange manage management methodologies; Masters in Business Administration or equivalent degree

  • Experience of working in a global organisation with complex/geographical context

  • Pharmaceutical R&D experience
