The Senior Director, Integrated Insights, Lung Franchise is a critical leadership role accountable for generating actionable insights that materially impact the business. In this highly consultative role, you will be a core member of the Lung Franchise Leadership Team, which is chaired by the VP, Lung Franchise.

You will oversee a team of direct and indirect reports in the delivery of analytics, market research, and demand forecasting in support of AstraZeneca’s US Oncology Lung Franchise. In addition, you will demonstrate broader leadership with cross-functional partners (e.g., Data Science & AI, Data Management, Reporting, Omnichannel) to deliver coordinated and innovative solutions that inform brand strategy and execution.

This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, communication excellence and a results-oriented mindset. Experience with advanced analytics approaches such as predictive targeting, a strong foundation of secondary data analysis proficiency, market research familiarity, and business and clinical acumen are necessary. One will be successful in this role by combining these skills with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence strategy and decision-making.

This role reports into the Head of Integrated Insights and sits within the Oncology Business Excellence organization within US Oncology.

Accountabilities:

Engage as a thought partner adding value through the interpretation and synthesis of advanced analytics, primary market research and secondary data analyses to support critical deliverables, including launch readiness, business reviews, and performance deep dives.

  • Partner with Marketing and Sales teams to develop brand strategies leveraging a range of analytics and insights to unlock the full commercial value of the oncology portfolio.

  • Oversee advanced analytics, primary research, and forecasting delivery, ensuring best practice approaches are always utilized.

Activities include:

  • Design of analytics & insight plans ensuring resources (dollars and people) are best leveraged to meet the true business needs.

  • Collaboration and thought partnership across Data Science and ML/AI initiatives

  • Management and design of qualitative and quantitative market research that delivers insights to enable evidence-driven marketing decisions

  • Leading the delivery of evidence-based, analytically sound, and clearly articulated product forecasts

  • KPI development and performance tracking for the brand, including brand equity and quantitative tracking. Monitoring brand health to clearly and partnering with the performance analytics team to quickly diagnose brand performance and impact tactical plans to drive greater business results post launch

  • Present key insights, analyses, and business implications to senior management. Assemble facts and insight to tell a cohesive story that clearly communicates the health of the brand/business

  • Proactively communicate with cross-functional teams to anticipate future needs and provide teams with strategic recommendations and insights; identify information and data needs

  • Develop people from both a functional skills and leadership perspective with goal of increasing the talent level (across the span of acquired, developed and retained)

  • Leverage deep understanding of Pharma/Bio industry marketing and how market research is used to guide product commercialization and lifecycle management

  • Collaborate across the business including with Pricing and Market Access team to ensure that payer insights are integrated into commercial and clinical strategy and positioning

Essential skills/experience:

  • BA/BS degree

  • 6+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience working for a biopharmaceutical company or other relevant industry (e.g., management consulting, market research, investment banking);

  • Experience applying various advanced analytics, primary research techniques and secondary data analytics to inform business decisions

Desirable requirements:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., MBA, PhD)

  • Oncology experience

  • Strategy consulting experience highly desirable

  • Pharmaceutical or consumer insight experience highly desirable

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to manage, prioritize and lead numerous projects simultaneously

  • Demonstrated ability to pull together insights from a variety of sources and develop strategic guidance for brand teams that result in a business decision or action

  • Demonstrated ability to cope well with change, risk, and uncertainty (ambiguity) and act decidedly with incomplete or imperfect information

  • Demonstrated ability to influence laterally and vertically; ability to influence without authority, motivate teams, and maintain high levels of respect for and from peers

  • Strong business and marketing acumen and excellent communication and interpersonal skills; consultative background preferred

  • Demonstrated communication and teamwork skills; ability to gain consensus and act within a matrix team environment; ability to work in a collaborative and influencing fashion that drives to business action

  • Demonstrated success in applying various primary research techniques to inform strategy in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Proficiency in secondary data analysis with intimate knowledge of a variety of industry secondary data sources

  • Ability to work within AstraZeneca's established policies/procedures and core values

  • Ability to travel within the USA and abroad

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $214,206 to $321,309. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
