  • Collaborative/matrix management skills with a focus on leading diverse groups (e.g., cultural, geographical, functional) to achieve excellent results in shared goals
  • Well-developed communication and influencing skills with the ability to distil complexity down to what matters to our stakeholders
  • Strong financial/budget and project management skills
  • Business acumen

What you'll do

  • This role will cover cardiovascular and renal products
  • Drive Global Medical strategy and plans (GMT and iMAP) to the marketing companies to ensure rapid, coherent adoption and implementation
    • Constant communication with regional and major market CVRM Medical Directors regarding strategic execution and medical performance
  • Co-ordinate and roll-out all key Global medical materials to the markets as per the Global communication plan (including leadership and co-ordination of Global Pubs and GMI activities):
    • Medical Strategy documents
    • Publications
    • Medical data materials (e.g. clinical data)
    • New technologies/medical tools
  • In consultation with GMALs, Head of Brand and Medical Excellence, develop medical KPIs for launch/post-launch and ensure launch readiness
  • Build effective working model with Global Brand Directors and Commercial Excellence Directors to ensure strategic alignment and ensure Medical organization performance is prominent in the successful launch/on-going performance of each brand:
    • In coordination with appropriate indication MAL(s), lead the Medical component of Launch Readiness Reviews with the markets (as appropriate to brand)
    • In coordination with appropriate indication MAL(s), lead the Medical component of Strategic Brand Reviews with the markets (as appropriate to brand)
  • Responsible for ensuring alignment on plans and communications
  •   Core member and organizer of the Global Medical Team (GMT)
    • Lead the GMT
      • Scheduling of the GMT and extended GMT meetings
      • Designing the agenda for the GMT meetings
      • Lead the GMT discussions
    • Collaborate with market and region medical leads to enhance the market presence at the GMT meetings
  • Support internal Medical capability enhancement on behalf of the brand e.g. Medical Masterclasses
  • Advance reputation of AstraZeneca and the CVRM Medical Affairs organization with leading experts and internal stakeholders
  • Build an aligned and productive relationship with all regions, with a focus on China, Japan and the International Region

Essential Requirements:

  • Doctoral level degree: MD/PhD/PharmD
  • 2+ years expertise in the relevant TA required
  • Experience launching new products
  • Experience working within country medical (Medical Advisor or MSL strongly preferred)
  • Experienced in Global Medical Affairs or similar function and working cross-functionally across a large product team
  • Strong demonstration of strategic and medical leadership
  • Demonstrated track record in delivering new initiatives, capabilities and leading large scale impactful medical initiatives desired
  • Demonstrated success in building and executing multi-year strategic roadmaps
  • Experience leading teams with a track record of delivering results in a complex environment
