Role Summary:

Reporting directly to the Medical Head ofTezspire, the GMAL is an importantstrategic businessrole,with the ability to pair their unique medicalexpertisewithinsight from markets, healthcare professionals,patientsand health systems todevelop and executeworld-classmedical strategiesfor AstraZeneca medicines and market-shaping teams,globally

Beyond being a key member of theGlobal MedicalTeam(GMT), the GMALactsasastrategicpartner and leaderacross the medical enterprise, R&D and commercial functions. The roleserves as a conduit betweenthe Global Product Team (GPT) andMedical teams in the Regions(US, EU-Canada & International) and major markets, ensuringthe needs of themarketing company affiliates, healthcare professionals and patients are recognisedin ambitious Global product and disease area strategies,and that medical teams around the world are equipped to deliver outstanding product launches, transform health systems,deliver practice-defining studies and real world evidence,andaccelerate delivery of AstraZeneca clinical trials.

Expectations of a GMAL include:

  • Launch&Performance:deliveringprerequisites for an outstanding product launch– strategy, scientific narrative,Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)– with anability tocritically assess performance against launchobjectivesand proactivelytakeremedial action

  • Scientific Leadership:creating& communicatingworld-class medical content andcompellingsciencenarrativesfor products/market-shaping initiatives

  • Innovator:creating new opportunities to drive market growth,identifyingandscaling best-practicesacross countries

  • Evidence:shaping/designingevidence needsand clinical studiesto differentiateor expand market access forAstraZenecamedicinesand insupport healthcare change initiatives

  • External Scientific Engagement:drive an ambitious external engagementagendacredibleandknowledgeable with anability to partner with/mobiliseglobal thought leaders, societies, healthorganisationsand health system decision-makers

  • Business Partner:Collaborate with otherMedicalfunctions (e.g. Evidence Generation, Medical Information, Publications) as well as cross functionally (e.g. Commercial, Pricing and Market Access, R&D) to drive the delivery of strategically importantMedicalresources as well as scientificallyaccurate& compliant commercial materials 

Essential for the role:

  • BSc orMasters in any fieldwith3-5 years of experience inthepharmaceutical industry (Medical, Marketing, R&D, Market access roles),or experienceworkingwithinina relevanthealth system setting(clinical, pharmacy, pathway design etc.)

  • Demonstration of strategic and medical leadership prowesspre- and post-productlaunch, includingabilityto define evidence needs, create compelling scientific narratives & strategy, influence &mobiliseothers.

Desirablefor the role:

  • Doctoral level degree: MD, PhD, or PharmD

  • Expertisein the relevant orrelatedTA

  • Experience of delivering results in a complex environment

  • Experience launching new products or indications

  • Strong working relationships withglobal clinicalthought leaders, professionalsocietiesand other healthcare industries/organizations

  • Proven ability to build internal and external networks and to collaborate 

  • Evidence generation experience—working on clinical trials or real-world evidence programs

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $193,281.60 - $289,922.40 USD Annual and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program. Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
