Director, US Precision Medicine Marketing - Above Brand

The Director, US Precision Medicine Marketing – Above Brand will serve as a key strategic leader within the Precision Medicine Marketing organization, responsible for shaping and executing AstraZeneca’s above-brand precision medicine strategy. This individual will act as a critical partner to the Sr. Director, functioning as a “right hand” leader to translate vision into coordinated execution across the organization.
This role will oversee the above-brand marketing team, including non-personal promotion, society engagement, congress strategy and execution, and marketing/field alignment. The Director will ensure alignment of all above-brand initiatives to a cohesive precision medicine strategy, with a focus on engaging laboratory and pathology stakeholders and advancing patient identification efforts across indications.
This position will report directly to the Sr. Director, US Precision Medicine Marketing and will work in close partnership with cross-functional partners including brand teams, field leadership, medical, market access, and insights & analytics to deliver a unified, high-impact approach to precision medicine.
This position is based at our Gaithersburg, MD campus, headquarters for US Oncology and the Oncology Business Unit.
Key Accountabilities:
Lead and evolve the above-brand precision medicine strategy, ensuring alignment across indications and seamless integration with brand-level initiatives
Serve as a strategic thought partner to the Sr. Director, helping shape long-term vision and translating strategy into actionable, organization-wide plans
Oversee and develop a high-performing above-brand team, including non-personal promotion, society engagement and congress execution
Lead alignment between precision medicine marketing and precision medicine field team to ensure field KPIs align with key precision medicine strategies
Drive execution of omnichannel/non-personal marketing initiatives that effectively engage key stakeholders, including lab directors, pathologists, and broader diagnostic audiences
Lead the development and execution of AstraZeneca’s precision medicine society strategy, ensuring strong engagement and partnership with key professional organizations
Own congress strategy and execution, ensuring a coordinated, impactful presence that supports precision medicine priorities and stakeholder engagement
Partner with indication leads, brand teams and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure consistency, scalability, and impact of precision medicine initiatives
Translate insights into strategy, partnering with Insights & Analytics to identify opportunities, define success metrics, and optimize performance across initiatives
Build and manage agency relationships and budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation and high-quality execution
Drive innovation in engagement approaches, particularly in reaching diagnostic audiences and advancing patient identification
Ensure operational excellence, managing multiple priorities, timelines, and stakeholder expectations in a highly matrixed environment
Adhere to AstraZeneca’s Code of Conduct, Standards, and SOPs, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
10+ years of experience in marketing, with demonstrated progression in responsibility
Proven experience leading teams and developing talent
Strong track record of translating strategy into execution across complex, cross-functional organizations
Experience in omnichannel marketing and non-personal promotion strategy
Preferred Requirements:
7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, diagnostics, or healthcare industry
Prior experience marketing to or engaging laboratory, pathology, or diagnostic audiences
Familiarity with precision medicine and/or oncology landscape
Demonstrated experience owning or contributing to congress strategy and execution
Experience working closely with field teams, including leadership of field-facing roles (e.g., National Field Directors)
Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence without authority and drive alignment across senior stakeholders
Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to rally teams around a clear vision
High business acumen with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment
The annual base pay for this position ranges from $193,800 to $290,800. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
