Product Director - Evinova
About Evinova:
Evinova enables global life sciences to accelerate better health outcomes through innovative digital health solutions for clinical research. We are a distinct business within the AstraZeneca group — advancing digital transformation across the clinical trial, hospital operations, and patient treatment landscape.
Role Overview:
Evinova is seeking an entrepreneurial, AI-fluent Product Director to take ownership of a core product area, building it from the ground up with AI at its foundation. This is a founding product leadership role: you will define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for an AI-native product that fundamentally changes how clinical development and clinical operations teams work—designing for the end user first, enabling seamless, collaborative workflows, and driving connectivity across Evinova’s modules so that the platform works as one.
As Product Director, you will operate with significant autonomy and act as the general manager for your product area at Evinova. This is an individual contributor role: you will not have direct reports, but you will lead and encourage a matrixed, cross-functional team—engineering, design, data science, and commercial—through vision, influence, and clarity. You will identify whitespace, validate opportunities directly with end users and customers, ship V1 products, and iterate relentlessly—embedding AI and machine learning into every layer of the product build, maintenance, and experience, and driving connectivity across Evinova’s modules so workflows flow seamlessly for clinical development and clinical operations teams. This role requires a builder who thrives in ambiguity and brings the conviction to create something new within a world-class life sciences software organization.
What you’ll do
BUILD AN AI-NATIVE PRODUCT FROM ZERO TO ONE
- Define and own the product vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for an AI-native product, from first principles through scale.
- Develop a deep, first-hand understanding of our users, their problem spaces, and their day-to-day workflows—pinpointing where the product can deliver step-function impact rather than incremental gains.
- Drive rapid hypothesis validation through prototyping and experimentation.
- Own the full product lifecycle end-to-end: from concept and design through development, launch, go-to-market, and post-launch iteration informed by usage data and customer feedback.
Lead AI-Native product development
- Architect the product with AI and machine learning at its core—for example: intelligent automation, contextual recommendations, predictive insights, and generative AI–powered workflows that reduce effort for end users.
- Collaborate closely with data science and engineering teams to translate ground breaking AI capabilities into practical, regulation-aware product features.
- Design for the end user first—building intuitive, collaborative workflows that reduce burden and enable clinical development and clinical operations teams to work seamlessly together, with connectivity across Evinova’s modules.
- Meet users where they are and guide them through their change management journey—earning adoption by easing the transition to new, AI-enabled ways of working rather than forcing it.
- Maintain a sharp point of view on the evolving clinical trial and AI landscape—proactively finding opportunities to apply emerging capabilities to the challenges faced by clinical development and clinical operations teams.
Drive strategic leadership across Evinova
- Partner with a matrixed product organization to drive connectivity across Evinova’s modules and inform the product roadmap. Partner with commercial to ensure the product does not over-fit to any one customer. Iterate relentlessly in pursuit of product-market fit.
- Serve as the strategic product leader across the organization, aligning engineering, design, data science, and commercial around a unified product vision.
- Communicate product strategy, progress, and trade-offs to Evinova’s executive leadership and key enterprise customers.
- Define and own success metrics—adoption, engagement, revenue contribution, clinical trial cycle-time reduction—and drive data-informed prioritization.
Operate with entrepreneurial ownership
- Treat your product area as your own business—own the P&L outlook, make resource trade-offs, and drive measurable commercial outcomes.
- Navigate the tension between speed-to-market and regulatory compliance (GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, GDPR, HIPAA).
- Cultivate strategic partnerships with data providers and standards bodies (CDISC, HL7 FHIR) to accelerate Evinova’s product capabilities.
- Champion a culture of experimentation, intellectual integrity, and continuous learning within your product area and across the broader Evinova team.
What you bring
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- 8+ years of product management experience
- Bachelor's Degree
- Demonstrated experience of at least 3 years in a director-level or senior product leadership capacity owning a product area end-to-end.
- Domain experience in clinical trials or life sciences. You bring a deep understanding of the clinical development and clinical operations personas, know the clinical ecosystem (EDC, CDMS, CTMS, eTMF), and can engage credibly with clinical operations leaders, medical directors, biostatisticians, data managers, and regulatory professionals.
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial track record: you have taken at least one product from zero to one—as a founder, early-stage PM, or intrapreneur within a larger organization. You can point to products you conceived, shipped, and scaled.
- Deep, hands-on experience building AI/ML-powered products. You understand model development lifecycles, training data strategies, prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, and the unique UX challenges of AI-driven features. AI fluency is non-negotiable for this role.
- Proven ability to operate in enterprise B2B SaaS environments, including navigating complex customer landscapes, long sales cycles, and platform-level product decisions.
- Strong technical skill: comfortable partnering directly with engineers and data scientists, reviewing technical specifications, and contributing to architectural trade-off decisions.
AI Fluency Expectations
- You use AI tools daily in your own workflow—for research, analysis, writing, prototyping, and decision-making—and can articulate how AI is transforming product development practices.
- You can evaluate AI/ML model outputs, reason about precision/recall trade-offs, and make informed product decisions around model thresholds, confidence scoring, and human-in-the-loop design patterns.
- You maintain a current and informed perspective on the AI landscape—foundation models, agentic AI, retrieval-augmented generation, fine-tuning—and have a point of view on how these capabilities apply to regulated industries like clinical research.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a founder or co-founder of a technology company, or as the first product hire at an early-stage startup.
- Working knowledge of clinical trial data standards (CDISC SDTM/ADaM, CDASH) and regulatory submission workflows.
