Accountabilities:

As a key member of the Shift Production Team, you'll initially be providing technical support to ensure the design of AstraZeneca’s new Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing facility is safe, efficient, easily operable and fit-for-the-future. Drawing on your API manufacturing experience, you will drive operational readiness, ahead of manufacturing where you will lead a team of approximately 6 shift manufacturing operators in a state-of-the-art facility to produce API for commercial and clinical supply.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum NFQ level 7 or equivalent in a scientific or engineering discipline (or able to demonstrate comparable proficiency).
  • High level of manufacturing experience with skills to support planning, managing, and monitoring of major manufacturing production projects from concept to implementation.
  • Leads trouble shooting activities to resolve existing problems, make complicated judgements and anticipate future manufacturing production developments.
  • Employs prepared information to discuss, plan and help carry out improvement plans, priority setting, investigation reports, quality or performance improvement recommendations.
  • Develops contacts across a range of departments and/or external groups acting as a plant representative.
  • Supports ongoing management of change and coaches continuous improvement and development to own team.
  • Ensures adequate supervision, instruction and training is provided.
  • Ensures own work is compliant with Safety, Health, Environment standards and Good Manufacturing Practice.
  • Data driven to evaluate process performance for the purpose of identifying required problem solving, improvements and opportunities.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing awareness, particularly of (API) Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients is highly desirable.
  • GMP and regulatory knowledge/awareness is highly desirable.
  • Awareness of Lean working principles. 
  • Experience of utilising latest technology e.g. digital applications, to support autonomous manufacturing.
