Senior Manager Strategic Sourcing – External Manufacturing

Introduction to role

Are you ready to lead and innovate in the world of strategic sourcing? As the Senior Manager of Strategic Sourcing for External Manufacturing, you will act as the Sourcing Lead for External Contract Manufacturing Organisations (CMO) within Alexion Global Operations. You will guide operational teams across multiple categories, including GMP manufacturing of biologics, small molecules, and finished products. Your role will involve forming and leading cross-functional teams, negotiating contracts, and ensuring alignment with internal stakeholders to optimize CMO delivery. You will also lead business performance, financial and commercial relationships with CMOs, and support strategic sourcing efforts in other categories as needed.

Accountabilities

- Direct and influence Alexion’s contract supply network to identify and implement cost savings and process improvements based on inputs from internal partners.
- Lead and support business partners to develop and carry out contract compliance to handle and measure supplier performance and develop relationships with suppliers.

Essential Skills/Experience

- Demonstrated sourcing, procurement, negotiation and contracting leadership in External Contract Manufacturing GMP Pharma environment.
- Demonstrated category management experience within CDMO, CMO and CLO areas with direct experience in contract negotiations, business issue resolution and supplier relationship management.
- Demonstrated ability to influence internal and external collaborators.
- Demonstrated experience working with cross functional global teams.
- Demonstrated project management skills to oversee a multiplicity of tasks.
- Excellent understanding of commercial business processes, innovation and continuous improvements.
- Meticulous with the ability to effectively handle multiple challenging priorities.
- Knowledge of Manufacturing, Quality and Regulatory requirements as they relate to the Biotech / Pharma manufacturing industry.
- Strong leadership, presentation, and communication skills with confirmed ability to influence at executive level.
- Ability to travel 10%.

Desirable Skills/Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Business, Procurement or equivalent with relevant external contract manufacturing experience.
- Ideally 5 - 8 years’ experience in a Multi-National GMP sourcing & external manufacturing environment.
