Introduction to role
APICOM is the new upcoming AstraZeneca API facility being constructed in College Park, Dublin, with commercial operations set to commence in 2026. The APICOM Maintenance Technician position will support the API manufactures to meet the required business demands (kgs, timings and scale-up learning).
Accountabilities
Initially, the APICOM Maintenance Technician will be part of a cross-functional team providing project technical support to ensure the design of the new APICOM facility is safe, efficient, and long-term operability is factored in. They will ensure that best maintenance practices are utilized in all equipment setup, including but not limited to functional location creation, development of maintenance job plan content, generation of maintenance-related procedures, spare part identification, and service level agreement establishment.
Longer term, the APICOM Maintenance Technician will be responsible for supporting the Maintenance Manager and Plant Process Engineers in the day-to-day management by acting as front-line support on effective and efficient maintenance of all Process, Utilities, Facilities, and Tank Farm equipment. This includes machine troubleshooting, investigations of major breakdowns, and technical improvement activities while meeting regulatory, quality (GMP), and safety (SHE) requirements. As part of the role, the successful candidate will be an integral part of the ERT. This will be a shift position and the type of shift is subject to change to meet business requirements.
Additionally, the APICOM Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the development of continuous improvement plans in APICOM. Assisting with Failure Mode Effective Analysis, the implementation of digital tools, and operational excellence programs such as Total Productive Maintenance programs and 5S. This position requires both a proficient technical background in Engineering and Maintenance with the capability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Skills/Experience
- National Trade certification or a bachelor’s degree in a technical engineering discipline.
- Previous hands-on experience in Process/Utilities/Facilities within the pharmaceutical/food industry/Tech Industry.
- Proven teamwork and leadership skills, with strong communication and organizational skills.
- Problem-solving experience and skills.
- Technical and/or engineering capabilities.
- Data-driven to evaluate process performance for the purpose of problem-solving and optimization.
- Ability to provide front-line supervision of a cross-functional maintenance team.
- Ability to prioritize labor according to changes in customer demands.
- Ability to plan small projects and drive execution.
Desirable Skills/Experience
- Continuous Improvement Tools and Techniques training (5S, Lean RCM etc.) an advantage.
- Experience in Predictive Technologies.
- ATEX experience.
- Experience in Operational Excellence at Green Belt level would be an advantage.
- Previous hands-on experience in Process/Utilities/Facilities, Maintenance or/& project experience including Reactors, HVAC, Purified water, Clean Steam, Process abatement systems within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience in supporting and delivering Reliability initiatives, Change Control, and Change Management.
- API Pharmaceutical manufacturing awareness.
- GMP awareness.
