Introduction to role

APICOM is the new AstraZeneca API Commercialisation facility being constructed in College Park, Dublin, with facility handover and start of API manufacture in 2026. Reporting to the APICOM Site Lead and supporting all functions within APICOM at College Park, Dublin, the APICOM Learning Specialist will deliver the training strategy and drive development of policy and practices. They are accountable for delivery in relation to compliance, reporting, training transactions, Learning Management System (LMS) maintenance and administration, training input into projects and functional strategic objectives, support for regulatory and internal audits and training process improvement.

Accountabilities

- Supports and contributes to overall training and development strategy for APICOM

- Helps develop, communicate and implement the strategic direction for APICOM

- Ensure training programmes are implemented to deliver the required capability and competence for API manufacture.

- Collaborates with College Park Training resources to ensure support for functional and APICOM initiatives

- Supports functions through application of the training cycle to specific functional areas to assess learning needs effectively and develop, deliver, and evaluate associated training programs to address functional needs

- Develops, owns, documents, and manages processes to ensure training documentation and standards are used compliantly, consistently, simply, efficiently, and effectively.

- Maintains oversight of APICOM training plan for specific objectives and BAU

- Keeps up-to-date on external developments and innovations in training and education so that the APICOM training activities remain current, relevant, and reflect best practice in learning

- Business Process Owner for training processes for APICOM

- Contributes to AstraZeneca Training and Learning networks, promoting APICOM and providing a point of contact for sharing best practice and learning from others

- Promotes and role models commitment to lifelong learning, actively coaching direct reports and others to improve performance and delivery

- Prioritises, and coordinates opportunities to improve training systems and processes. Ensures solutions are practical, allowing APICOM and training resources to operate more efficiently whilst reducing business continuity and compliance risks.

- Acts as a training standards expert and owner with a deep understanding of processes and internal regulations.

- Lead Training team portfolio projects and activities to realise agreed outcomes/benefits (no training team)

- Identifies and manages critical issues requiring intervention and support to ensure business continuity and leads activities to implement the required solutions using global processes.

- Builds and manages relationships with customers and Key Stakeholders across site: uses this to identify and share opportunities to improve training systems and related processes.

Essential Skills/Experience

- Experience of developing and deploying best practice in relation to training systems.

- Experience of working with, developing, maintaining and manipulating and presenting complex IT Information.

- Project Management experience and liaising with Cross Functional Teams.

- Understanding of API Manufacturing and associated regulatory requirements.

- Direct experience of delivering blended learning interventions covering a wide range of topics

- Good interpersonal skills are required, as is the ability to communicate well, both verbally and written. Must be able to function effectively in a teamwork environment.

- Experience in the application of AZ Supply System problem solving methodology

Desirable Skills/Experience

- Technical diploma or BA/BS Degree in Life Sciences or similar preferred.

- Development of e-learning solutions

- Problem solving experience and skills

- Experience of API production or other pharmaceutical manufacturing.

- GMP and regulatory knowledge/awareness

- Experience in Lean Methodologies.
