Associate Director, Accounting 18 Month FTC

This is what you will do:

  • Be a part of Astra Zeneca’s Rare Disease Unit Controllership team based in Dublin
  • Oversee Intercompany and Legal entity accounting for the Rare Disease Unit
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships

You will be responsible for:

  • Lead RDU Intercompany team inclusive of outsourced provider. Liaising with team across the RDU and wider Astrazenca Finance team
  • Corporate Lead for Legal entity accounting covering newly created legal entities, changes in corporate structure and cash distributions
  • Owner of Consolidated RDU Reporting on a half yearly basis, including review and presentation to RDU leadership
  • Support Legal Entity Forecasting process with responsibility for R&D recharges and Intercompany transactions
  • Legal Entity lead on integration efforts for mergers and acquisitions
  • Fostering strong relationships both internally across the Alexion/AZ network and with third party stakeholders
  • Liaison with Group Financial Reporting, global RDU Controllers and Finance business partners
  • Encourage effective collaboration between team and global Finance colleagues
  • Ensure accounting compliance with IFRS and local GAAP accounting principles
  • Drive accountability across the operating model, liaising with Genpact relationship lead to identify, discuss & resolve issues
  • Manage expectations and work collaboratively with GFS team in Ireland
  • Support on embedded finance inputs into statutory financials across multiple legal entities
  • Review balance sheet account reconciliations and monitor reconciling items for timely resolution
  • Liaison with local statutory and tax accountants as required
  • Assist on ad hoc projects
  • Manage timely completion of SOX related activities and ensure SOX narratives are kept up to date
  • Support with Group, Internal and Statutory audit efforts
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to implement system and/or process enhancements for the month-end closing cycle, embracing digital automation and AI
  • Support & development of team, providing relevant and balanced feedback on a continual basis
  • Manage team capacity to ensure a balanced workload across resources

You will need to have:

  • Accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA etc.)
  • Minimum 8 years’ industry/post qualification experience
  • High level of Microsoft Office Excel proficiency
  • Proven interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

We would prefer for you to have:

  • Organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high performance standards
  • Natural curiosity and ability to learn quickly
  • Understanding of US GAAP & IFRS accounting principles
  • Multinational pharmaceutical experience
  • Intercompany and Legal Entity Accounting experience preferred
