Director, Internal and Corporate Communications, International
Introduction to role:
In this role you will set the narrative and rhythm for internal and corporate communications across a diverse region spanning China, Eurasia, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East & Africa, and Latin America.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Communications, International, you will develop and deliver communications that engage employees around our purpose and strategy, strengthen our reputation with external partners, and advance thought leadership on issues that matter to patients and society. You will join a highly collaborative communications community, working closely with global partners and in-market communicators
Accountabilities:
Employee Engagement: Build and deliver internal campaigns that connect employees to our purpose, strategy and impact; partner with regional and market communications teams and the International Leadership Team to drive clarity and momentum
Leadership and Milestones: Orchestrate major regional moments, including quarterly results updates, senior leader meetings, leadership country visits and town halls, ensuring consistent messages, compelling content and detailed execution
Corporate Narrative: Develop and embed a unifying corporate brand story across the region, enabling markets to activate locally resonant narratives while maintaining global consistency
Thought Leadership: Build and deliver thought leadership content and programs that elevate the company’s voice on science and innovation, healthcare transformation, and sustainability, supporting our policy and health system reform agenda
Reputation Management: Supervise and lead reputation across priority markets by partnering with research agencies, using tracking tools and working with local teams to turn insights into targeted strategies and measurable outcomes
Communications Capabilities: Operationalize capability-building initiatives across markets by implementing frameworks, enabling adoption of new tools and processes, and encouraging continuous learning and best-practice sharing
Collaboration and Influence: Serve as a trusted partner to senior leaders and cross-functional teams; align plans with global communications and in-market priorities to improve reach, impact, and resource efficiency
Measurement and Continuous Improvement: Define objectives, indicators, and feedback loops for campaigns; analyze performance and share findings to sharpen strategy and guide future investments
Essential Skills/Experience:
10+ years public relations and communications experience working within a dynamic global in-house or agency communications team
Excellent written and verbal English communications skills
Established track record of delivering impactful, content rich communications programmes across multiple channels and partners with proven measures of success
Strong digital communications skills and knowledge, including actively using AI to improve communications work
Self-starter with proven track record to work independently and flexibly, think ahead, engage proactively, and take initiative
Sound judgment combined with strong interpersonal and influencing skills
Ability to manage conflicting priorities, stakeholder & colleague expectations
Able to develop and maintain networks across business and cultural boundaries
Capable of achieving results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, often on short deadlines
Comfortable operating in a matrixed environment
