Introduction to role
Join the AstraZeneca team as a Medical Scientific Advisor (MSA) and seize the opportunity to make a significant impact with both new and mature products. You will play a key role in an exciting launch along with other upcoming assets in our portfolio as well as managing established products. This dynamic, field-based position in Denmark allows you to lead the medical strategy for pre-launch and launch activities. You will collaborate with visionary external collaborators and showcase your scientific leadership. Reporting to the Therapeutic Area Lead (TAL) Denmark, you will work alongside ambitious cross-functional teams to drive pivotal initiatives that greatly enhance patient outcomes. Accountabilities
Medical and Scientific Engagement
• External Collaborator Interaction: Develop and maintain relationships with Key External Experts (KEEs), healthcare professionals (HCPs), and medical organizations to enhance scientific exchange and insights.
o Implement plans aligned with the medical strategy and lead scientific discussions in advisory boards, meetings, and educational programs.
o Respond to unsolicited medical information requests about AZ assets.
Pre-Launch and Launch Support
• Pre-Launch Strategy: Lead scientific efforts to prepare for new product introductions by identifying unmet medical needs and contributing to product strategies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure launch strategies are informed by scientific data and external collaborator insights.
• Launch Activities: Implement medical activity plans, ensure alignment with healthcare practices, and support treatments to reach eligible patients after approval.
Therapeutic Area Leadership & Transforming Care
• CVRM Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert in one or more areas within CVRM, identifying clinical trends, evidence gaps, and unmet needs in the disease area.
o Lead initiatives to transform care for patients by using insights into clinical practices and treatment pathways.
• Redefining Care Strategy: Co-lead programs that aim to deliver value to patients, healthcare systems, and AstraZeneca by integrating innovative strategies into clinical practice.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Internal Collaboration: Work closely with the rest of the Medical Affairs team, Clinical Operations (SM&M), Clinical Development, Market Access, Commercial and Regulatory Affairs to provide scientific input into product development, regulatory strategies, and market access plans.
o Provide feedback on clinical trial design, feasibility, and site engagement to optimize recruitment and retention in CVRM trials.
Externally Sponsored Research (ESR) & Innovation
• Support ESR and Open Innovation programs by identifying collaborative opportunities to generate real-world evidence and clinical insights that advance the scientific understanding of CVRM diseases.
Essential Skills/Experience
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex scientific data clearly and effectively to both internal and external collaborators.
• Strong collaboration and cross-functional teamwork abilities.
• Proactive approach with the ability to implement tasks independently while contributing effectively as a teammate.
• Understanding of the Danish health care system, including regulatory and payer environment
• Knowledge of regulatory and medical affairs processes, including the drug development lifecycle.
Qualifications & Experience
• Education: Advanced degree (MSc, MD, PhD) in a relevant scientific or medical field.
Experience:
o Proven experience in medical affairs or clinical research/development, with a focus on CVRM diseases (Cardiovascular disease area experience is preferred).
o Experience in leading scientific communications, developing relationships with external experts, and implementing pre-launch and launch activities in collaboration with internal shareholders.
o Prior product launch and reimbursement process experience.
o Proven track-record in project management.
o Fluent in Danish.
