This is what you will do:
The Process Development Summer Intern, Downstream will contribute to the AAV purification platform development for clinical programs, with a focus on chromatography method development – to reduce impurities and increase production yield. The Summer Intern will have hands-on experience on multiple unit-operations, contribute to study design, planning; execute and summarize the results. The project will focus on optimizing the chromatography step to improve process performance, recovery, product quality (purity), and expand our purification toolkit and capabilities.
You will be responsible for:
- Contribute to overall purification platform development for AAV clinical manufacturing for key developing program(s).
- Contribute to the design of downstream process development studies.
- Plan and execute studies to improve product purity and yield over key chromatography step.
- Summarize study results and present findings to cross-functional teams.
- Maintain best practice on experiment documentation and author development report(s).
- Support ongoing development studies which may involve multiple unit-operations: filtration, centrifugation, chromatography, ultrafiltration/diafiltration.
- Engage in platform development for the evaluation and implementation of novel technologies to improve product quality and yield.
You will need to have:
- Strong understanding of scientific principles.
- Hands-on experience in a wet lab environment.
- Attention to details, be organized, and ability to multitask.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
We would prefer for you to have:
- Experience in purification unit-operations: filtration, chromatography.
- Understanding of basic principles for bioprocessing and product development.
- General understanding of purification process for biologics, ideally, Gene Therapy products.
