Global Group Director – Health Economics and Payer Evidence, Respiratory & Immunology (R&I)

As the Global Group Director – Health Economics and Payer Evidence (R&I), you will play a key role in shaping the value strategy and payer evidence generation for our industry leading Respiratory and Immunology portfolio at AstraZeneca.
Within the Global Market Access & Pricing (GMAP) function and reporting to the Global R&I Access Head, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for establishing and executing the Health Economics and Payer Evidence (HEPE) strategy. Your work will ensure that our innovative therapies deliver and demonstrate maximum value to payers, healthcare systems, and ultimately to patients across the world.
What You’ll Do
Provide strategic leadership and vision to a world-class HEPE team focused on Respiratory and Immunology, setting clear direction for portfolio projects and maximising value in a dynamic, competitive market.
Design, implement and oversee payer evidence strategies across the full product lifecycle, supporting pricing, market access, and reimbursement objectives from early development to post-launch.
Drive the generation of health economic analyses, outcomes research, real-world evidence, and payer analytics for both pipeline and in-market products.
Provide comprehensive guidance for clinical development and market access, integrating payer perspectives and evidence needs to optimize global and local market readiness.
Represent HEPE strategy and insights to senior internal leadership, external payers, and global health technology assessment bodies.
Lead, motivate, and develop a globally distributed team, driving a high-performance culture, professional growth, and effective prioritisation.
Maintain expert knowledge in payer evidence methodology, value demonstration, and evolving scientific and healthcare system trends.
Collaborate across Medical Affairs, RWE, Patient Reported Outcomes, Clinical Development, Regulatory, and Market Access to deliver integrated value evidence plans.
Advance AstraZeneca’s reputation through external engagements with academic leaders, HTA bodies, and industry forums.
Partner in launch planning, prepare payer evidence submissions, and support reimbursement negotiations globally.
Contribute as a GMAP leadership team member, crafting AstraZeneca’s future access solutions for patients worldwide.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
10 years’ experience in health economics, outcomes research, payer evidence, pricing, or market access, including project management in pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare settings.
Demonstrated expertise in health economic modelling, outcomes research, real-world evidence generation, and payer analytics.
Strong understanding of global healthcare systems, payer and HTA requirements, and evolving reimbursement landscapes across major markets.
Proven ability to lead, encourage, and develop high-performing, diverse teams.
Proven track record in planning, working with collaborators from various departments, and influencing senior internal and external collaborators.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in outcomes research, health economics, epidemiology, health policy, health services research, or related field.
Experience in respiratory and immunology therapeutic areas.
Track record in developing payer/market access strategies delivering significant reimbursement outcomes.
Established reputation inside and outside the industry as a thought leader in value demonstration.
Experience in innovative analytical and evidence-generation methodologies.
Ability to navigate ambiguity, simplify complexity, and prioritize in fast-changing environments.
