Diagnostic Head - Andean Cluster

At AstraZeneca, we are seeking a Diagnostic Head for the Andean Cluster. This role is responsible for defining, adapting, and executing the diagnostic and precision medicine strategy, ensuring alignment between business objectives and healthcare system needs.
This position drives access to innovative diagnostic solutions, strengthens molecular profiling, and optimizes patient care pathways positioning diagnostics as a key enabler for the sustainable growth of AstraZeneca’s portfolio. The role leads cross‑functional collaboration and builds strategic alliances with key stakeholders across the healthcare ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
Define and execute the diagnostic and precision medicine strategy for current therapies and upcoming launches, ensuring the availability of timely, high‑quality diagnostic solutions. Align initiatives with business objectives, manage the area’s budget, and ensure the monitoring of key performance indicators to drive continuous improvement.
- Cross‑Functional Leadership
Lead the coordination of multidisciplinary teams (medical, marketing, access, regulatory, commercial), ensuring diagnostic initiatives are integrated into brand plans and launch readiness. Promote the adoption of precision medicine across internal teams and key stakeholders.
- Market Access & Innovation
Collaborate closely with market access teams, regulatory affairs, and external stakeholders to facilitate approval, funding, and reimbursement of molecular diagnostic tests. Identify barriers within diagnostic pathways and develop innovative solutions to enhance access and reduce time to diagnosis.
- Diagnostic & Technology Excellence
Evaluate diagnostic technologies and tests available in the market to select the best options. Promote laboratory quality programs (EQA), drive innovation in molecular diagnostics, and ensure AstraZeneca remains at the forefront of precision medicine.
- External Engagement
Build and strengthen strategic partnerships with laboratories, academic institutions, scientific societies, and healthcare system stakeholders. Lead educational initiatives (congresses, symposia, digital activities) and position AstraZeneca as a scientific leader in diagnostics and precision medicine.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in health sciences (Microbiology, Biology, Bacteriology, Pathology, or related fields) with clinical laboratory knowledge.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, diagnostics, or medical devices.
- Strong knowledge of precision medicine and molecular biology techniques.
- Experience leading diagnostic or access strategies and projects.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross‑functionally and influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Understanding of the healthcare system, diagnostic pathways, and patient needs.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic‑thinking skills.
- Intermediate to advanced English proficiency.
- Experience in the Andean Cluster is a plus.
- Strong digital skills (Teams, Copilot, AZChatGPT, PowerPoint, Power BI).
