Introduction to role:

Do you feel prepared to elevate standards of care in Respiratory & Immunology by turning deep customer partnerships into measurable patient and business impact? In this Chennai-based role, you will develop regional account approaches and lead evidence-based engagement that supports appropriate on-label use for patients who stand to benefit most.

You will join a team that blends scientific understanding with commercial execution to influence real-world medical practice. Through focused account planning, multidisciplinary education, and strong internal collaboration, you will see your work translate into better-informed decisions, stronger adoption of our medicines, and sustainable growth. How will you establish relationships across the medical community to change treatment pathways in your territory?

Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with the Sales Manager to create local client approaches and business plans. These efforts aim to meet targets and enhance AstraZeneca’s Respiratory & Immunology (R&I) portfolio positioning.
  • Customer Engagement: Engage HCPs in evidence-based dialogue regarding authorized uses, efficiency, and safety, as well as treatment protocols to support on-label prescribing for appropriate patients.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain long-term, collaborative relationships with customers within and across cross-functional groups and decision-making bodies, including institutional decision-makers and KOLs.
  • Increase all relevant MDT and DMU collaborators’ understanding of AstraZeneca’s value proposition, labeled indications, and efficacy data through tailored communications.
  • Conduct science-based dialogues with HCPs. Plan multidisciplinary workshops and coordinate speaker programs alongside physician advocates and KOLs. Assist R&I nurses with training on chemotherapy and testing solutions.
  • Commercial Execution: Promote the benefits of AstraZeneca’s R&I brands using fair balance messages and an appropriate mix of promotional tools; deliver sales performance and ensure forecasts meet or exceed expectations.
  • Budget Stewardship: Manage assigned budgets effectively to deliver on plan and improve return on investment.
  • Insight Generation and Internal Collaboration: Share customer insights within AstraZeneca to inform how products are built, promotional efforts, and sales approaches; work with different teams to strengthen relevant activities.
  • Compliance and Training: Complete all required training and product examinations; ensure full compliance with external regulations and internal policies, including the Code of Ethics and standards for external interactions and privacy, especially when engaging with patient groups.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Experience developing and delivering account strategies and local business plans within the healthcare ecosystem.
  • Shown ability to engage HCPs on approved indications, efficacy and safety profiles, and therapeutic approaches to encourage adherence to approved prescribing.
  • Track record of building and sustaining long-term relationships with multidisciplinary groups and decision-making teams, including KOLs and institutional decision-makers.
  • Capability to conduct science-based discussions and deliver multidisciplinary educational activities and speaker programs.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering sales goals, accurate forecasting, and effective budget management.
  • Proficiency in using varied communication approaches, techniques, and channels to build stakeholder knowledge across MDTs and DMUs.
  • Dedication to complete all training requirements, pass product examinations, and maintain strict compliance with company policies and external regulations, including when engaging with patient communities.
  • Ability to capture and share stakeholder insights to strengthen product development, marketing, and sales efforts.
  • Therapeutic area experience in Respiratory and Immunology within the Chennai/Tamil Nadu market.
  • Established network with regional KOLs, hospital leadership, and payer or institutional partners.
  • Experience supporting nurse education programs related to cancer treatment and diagnostic procedures.
  • Familiarity with real-world evidence and evidence-based healthcare engagement.
  • Strength in digital engagement and omnichannel promotional tools within compliance frameworks.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration with medical, market access, and marketing teams.
  • Resilience and communication skills suited to a fast-paced, science-led environment.
