Manager, Employee Digital Communications, Centre of Digital Excellence

As Manager, Employee Digital Communications, you will work with the AstraZeneca Corporate Communications team and Global Corporate Affairs (GCA) network in support of our Employee Advocacy strategy and internal communications channels to ensure they work as effectively as possible to achieve best-in-class employee engagement.

Working independently and under the direction of the Director of Amplification, you will help deliver our Employee Advocacy strategy, including by identifying and distributing content for colleagues to share on their personal social media channels.

Working independently and under the direction of the Director of Platforms and Product, you will support their role as Product Owner of our internal communication channels, including by overseeing a content monitoring process.

You will analyse performance data and produce insights to help content publishers understand best practice, sharing findings and working with measurement specialists and others in GCA to shape our communications strategy and tactics.

You will become familiar with the development roadmaps for our Employee Advocacy and internal communications platforms, working with vendors to shape them, and helping to socialise new functionality and workflows to ensure take up.

As a member of the Centre of Digital Excellence, you will be expected to help shape and advance our strategy, proactively exploring and adopting new approaches to ensure we remain at the forefront of digital within and beyond the industry. Cultural awareness and the ability to work with teams across corporate communications, including Internal Communications and Strategy and Operations, will be key.

Alongside content management and social media, experience handling multiple projects and disciplined planning are essential. You will be expected to contribute to a positive, collaborative culture as part of the broader Global Corporate Affairs team. Occasional working out of normal office hours may be required.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage our Employee Advocacy platform, including by publishing high quality, timely, and compliant content and maintaining user access and permissions.
  • Support the delivery of our Employee Advocacy strategy, including by collaborating to produce a participant newsletter, set up and run regular meetings, and preparing monthly performance reports.
  • Play an active role in the management and governance processes of AstraZeneca’s internal social media  and intranet platforms. 
  • Partner with colleagues from Internal Communications, IT, and HR to ensure GCA’s employee engagement objectives are met and that our internal channels are effective, safe and engaging spaces.   
  • Run the content monitoring process for Workplace, including reviewing posts and comments reported by users, actioning as necessary. 
  • Partner with our internal IT team to manage Corporate Affairs content publishing requests for Nucleus. 
  • Build understanding of the platform development roadmaps, working with vendors to shape them through the application of your understanding of user needs and priorities.
  • Train and socialize new capabilities to drive take up and ensure platforms are being used as efficiently and effectively as possible.
  • Manage and analyse performance data, including through the creation and maintenance of dashboards for regular reporting.
  • Provide support as required across all areas of the CoDE’s operations, depending on demand.
  • Provide data-driven insights for platform users to guide best practice, and - with GCA’s measurement specialists - support the Internal Communications team in shaping their strategy and tactics to drive best-in-class employee engagement. 

Knowledge and experience

  • Excellent standard of written and spoken English.

  • Minimum 2 years digital communications experience working in a fast-paced global in-house or agency communications team or equivalent environment is essential.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience using web content management system(s) is essential, preferably Salesforce and/or Orchestra.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with social media platforms is essential, preferably including Workplace by Meta. 

  • Experience in a customer-facing role and establishing working relationships with a range of stakeholders. 

  • Experience working on multiple projects at once, with the ability to plan and prioritise your time, and flex as needed to changing demands.

  • Experience with third party and vendor relationships. 

  • Understanding the role of data and measurement and how to derive actionable insights from them.

  • Experience dealing with content standards and managing user reports is desirable.

  • Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry or other highly regulated sector is desirable.

  • Good knowledge of digital communications with strong visual judgment and copy-writing skills.
