Associate Director, Data Products
This role is based in Barcelona, with an on-site commitment of three days a week. Fluency in English is required.

As an Associate Director, Data Products for the Operational Data domain, you will be instrumental in shaping the clinical data landscape within a dynamic, cross-functional organization. Reporting directly to the Data Product Owner, you will bridge technical and business requirements, enabling reliable insights for forecasting, planning, and strategic decision-making. This is your chance to influence high-impact deliverables for R&D and Supply Chain leadership while collaborating with teams in Big Data, advanced analytics, and healthcare technology. Your efforts will ensure that End-to-End Clinical Planning is supported by high-quality, consistent, and well-integrated data products, driving operational excellence across the drug development lifecycle.
Accountabilities
- Analyse and translate business requirements from Clinical Planning, R&D, and Supply Chain into actionable data needs.
- Evaluate compatibility of new requests with the existing reporting and analytics landscape.
- Ensure alignment and consistency in definitions, KPIs, and reporting methodologies across business functions.
- Map, document, and validate complex data flows from multiple internal source systems.
- Evaluate and improve data quality, identifying embedded business rules.
- Partner with Data Governance to establish and maintain data dictionaries, business glossaries, and metadata repositories.
- Collaborate with the Programme Transformation Team, Power BI developers, and ML/AI engineers.
- Support the development, testing, and deployment of analytical tools, algorithms, and dashboards.
- Drive cross-functional workshops to align business, technical, and governance priorities.
- Ensure compliance with internal governance, regulatory, security, and quality standards.
- Proactively identify data gaps and recommend improvements.
- Facilitate collaboration across business and technical functions to support change management.
- Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making across Clinical Operations, R&D, and Supply Chain.
Essential Skills/Experience
- University degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Biotechnology, Statistics, or a related field
- Experience in mapping business requirements to technical solutions and documentation
- Proven experience in business/data analysis roles within pharmaceutical, health sciences, or life sciences environments
- Strong technical acumen, with an understanding of data engineering principles, ETL processes, and data modelling concepts
- Proficiency in gathering and documenting technical requirements, data mapping, user stories, and process flows
- Strong analytical skills, business acumen, and the ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholder groups
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
Desirable Skills/Experience
- Familiarity with enterprise data platforms (Starburst, Snowflake)
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI or similar
- Jira and Confluence knowledge
- Basic knowledge of SQL, data querying, and data manipulation
- Understanding of operational data management principles and methodologies
- Knowledge of data governance, data quality management, and regulatory requirements for healthcare data
