As a Senior Data Engineer at Alexion, you'll be at the forefront of developing and maintaining robust data pipelines and integration solutions for our global platforms. Accountabilities

• Designing, implementing, and maintaining data pipelines and ETL/ELT solutions to integrate diverse data sources.
• Working closely with IT and business teams to translate data requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Supporting deployment, testing, and operationalization of data pipelines, monitoring for errors or inefficiencies.
• Contributing to the implementation of data quality, security, and compliance standards across data assets.
• Documenting data engineering solutions and participating in code and design reviews.
• Keeping up to date with industry practices and new technologies applicable to data engineering.

Essential Skills/Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Typically 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data management, or analytics roles.
• Hands-on experience delivering scalable data solutions using SQL, Python, and ETL/ELT frameworks.
• Experience with cloud data platforms (preferably AWS) and data warehousing technologies such as Snowflake.
• Exposure to tools such as dbT, Fivetran, and Apache Airflow.
• Familiarity with data modeling (e.g., star schema, 3NF) and data integration patterns.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to document work clearly and communicate data engineering solutions to technical stakeholders.
• Understanding of data governance and compliance principles (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA), with eagerness to learn and apply frameworks like FAIR and TRUSTED.

Desirable Skills/Experience

• Experience working within the biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industry.
• Familiarity with containerization (Kubernetes, Docker) and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform).
• Knowledge of data observability, quality tools, and best practices for data reliability.
