Therapeutic Area Lead, Hematology, Switzerland Marketing Company

Are you ready to shape how cutting-edge hematology innovations reach patients in Switzerland? In this senior role based in Baar, you will lead and own the medical strategy and execution for a dynamic hemato-oncology portfolio, ensuring that robust evidence and scientific insight translate into practice that benefits patients.

You will partner across functions and with external experts to ready the healthcare system for CAR-T and advanced therapies, influence standards of care, and enable timely access. Missions:

  • Hematology Medical Strategy: Develop and deliver an integrated medical plan for Switzerland aligned with global, regional, and local priorities, anchoring on scientific differentiation and patient needs. Own and co-develop the scientific and strategic agenda for the hematology portfolio.

  • Scientific Leadership and Evidence: Provide scientific leadership across the hematology portfolio, spanning evidence generation, launch readiness, market shaping, and stakeholder engagement to drive clinical adoption.

  • Team Leadership and Capability: Lead and develop the hematology medical team, building a high-performing, inclusive, and accountable culture through coaching, feedback, and skills development.

  • Enterprise and Strategic Impact: Act as an enterprise leader by translating scientific insights into strategic choices that deliver measurable patient and business impact.

  • Evidence Generation and Partnerships: Support local evidence generation, including clinical trials, real-world evidence, investigator-sponsored research, and collaborations with academic partners to address data gaps and inform practice.

  • External Ecosystem Engagement: Build trusted partnerships across the healthcare ecosystem, including hematology experts, academic networks, transplant and CAR-T centers, and patient organizations to accelerate appropriate care.

  • CAR-T and Advanced Therapies Readiness: Provide strategic leadership for CAR-T and advanced therapies, covering launch readiness, referral pathways, treatment center readiness, and navigation of the broader cell therapy ecosystem.

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with cross-functional colleagues to ensure integrated planning and aligned execution across medical, commercial, market access, and regulatory interfaces.

  • System Transformation: Establish close and value-adding partnerships across a highly specialized external landscape. Identify and drive opportunities to improve diagnostics, referral pathways, care coordination, and access for patients in Switzerland, creating clarity, focus, and accountability in a fast-evolving environment.

  • Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with all local regulatory requirements and AstraZeneca Local and Global Policies and Guidelines.

Essential requirements:

  • Advanced scientific degree in a relevant field (MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent)
  • 7+ years of experience in medical affairs in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
  • Strong experience in oncology/hematology, with prior hematology experience required
  • Prior industry experience in CAR-T is essential, including launch readiness, operational understanding of cell therapy pathways and the cell therapy ecosystem, and familiarity with referral pathways and treatment center readiness
  • Proven leadership experience, including people leadership and/or therapeutic area leadership
  • Strong track record in evidence generation, scientific engagement, launch readiness, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience collaborating with study groups, academic networks, and investigator-sponsored research
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity and complexity in a fast-evolving environment
  • Fluency in English; German or French is an advantage

Desirable Skills/Experience:

• Prior experience as a Therapeutic Area Lead or in a comparable senior medical role

• Experience working with Swiss hematology centers, CAR-T/transplant centers, and academic networks
